Beautiful guitar, John. I always like tortoise binding.

Hi John

Customs here can be hot if they think they are not getting the import duty that they should.

You have to declare the value on the documentation and VAT and Import duty are charged to the person recieving the delivery. vAT is 17.5% of Value and Frieght Cost, and Duty on a guitar depends on what mood the customs official is in but is usually around 3.5% of the same value.

From my experience the two best couriers across the Atlantic are Fedex and DHL, Fedex tend to fly in to Stanstead, where as DHL fly into the nearest airport usually, or though I think terence is in the London area so this is not an issue.

Rather than go on here I send you a PM.

Russell

John...It's always special to see you post pics of your new babies but this one is exceptional. You and Johnny Cool must have had the same vibes at the same time to come up with such wonderful Zootman Sapeles.

BTW...any tips on getting this stuff to want to bend successfully? I have the wood but not yet the courage!

I would like to join Tim in kicking myself for not buying some of this wood. But I didn't have the money and still don't have any. So I guess I will wait until next time.

Great work!

Josh

Hi Guys,

we're psyched up for that guitar! Undoubtedly, Dennis and I will engage in that game of 'let's hang on to this one for as long as possible'.

Warmest Regards,
Terence.

John,

This guitar is a beautiful work of art! There is no VAT on art. Terrance should arrange a "show" of wooden art pieces. (He could just print up one flyer on his computer.) You list the shipping contents as "functional wooden sculpture/art object", on the customs declaration documents, and insure it fully. It might actually work.

Dennis
